The Montana
Wilderness Association; Working to protect Montana's roadless heritage since 1958!
Hello, welcome to the Montana Wilderness Association (MWA) Home Page. MWA was founded
in 1958. Six years later, MWA leaders were instrumental in the passage of the 1964
Wilderness Act. Since that time, MWA has led the fight to protect Montana's wild lands,
including the Bob Marshall, Absaroka-Beartooth, Rattlesnake, Welcome Creek, Great Bear,
Anaconda-Pintler, Scapegoat, and Lee Metcalf Wilderness Areas.
Currently MWA has over 2300 dues paying members, and active chapters in Bozeman,
Billings, Kalispell, Helena, Great Falls, and Libby.
