alk of UFO propulsion begs the question of whether UFOs really exist. We must follow scientific method, which requires of scientific data that all normal alternatives can be excluded. "How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth!" - Sherlock Holmes, The Sign of Four. We won't find that by pondering mysterious lights in the night time sky. The only events which satisfy the requirements for scientific data are those cases where landed UFOs with aliens standing about are seen in broad daylight by multiple witnesses, of good character, who remain anonymous and never have TV movies made about them. Surprisingly, there are a large number of cases just like that, each investigated by a UFOlogist. There is scientific proof that UFOs are the spacecraft of star-jumping humanoids in the collection of landed occupant cases edited by Bowen.
harles Bowen's book The Humanoids is the classic study of aliens on the ground, around their spaceships. This all important book can only be obtained from The Flying Saucer Review, Snodland, Kent, ME6 5HJ, U.K. Each individual observation is independent from all others. Between 1947 and 1969, when these observations were made, there were no programs like "Encounters" or "Sightings" on TV to give a sympathetic treatment to UFO experience. The media were united with the authorities and academia in laughing off such reports. And the aliens in science fiction (then and now) were nothing like the real aliens. The fictional aliens are aggressive non-humanoid BEMs (Bug-Eyed Monsters) for the most part, like those in the movie "Aliens," or "Independence Day." Nor does the Starship Enterprise in any way resemble real space-craft. Figments of imagination tend to resemble those other figments of imagination found on TV or in movies and books.
ach list in The Humanoids is produced by a different scholar, and presents observations from a particular year or a particular place. Their most remarkable discovery, as indicated by the title, is that all of our visitors are humanoid. By cross-referencing space-craft and aliens, we can make a rough estimate of the number of species visiting us, which I would put at about 50 give or take a few dozen. Such facts rule out all alternatives to the interstellar hypothesis.
ut are the aliens really space-travelers? Many of my friends in the UFO field don't think so, preferring to regard them as interdimensional travelers, or even time travelers, because that is part of the disinformation spread by the aliens themselves. Why not? Why couldn't this be true? Because there is absolutely no evidence of "interdimensional" anything, much less "interdimensional travelers." This interdimensional nonsense began with a "multiple universe" interpretation of quantum mechanics, which was popular for a year or two. For a look at modern physics, which does not require advanced mathematics, see Physics Without Paradox. I also show that time is not a real dimension. In physics, it is an imaginary dimension, both as an imaginary number, and as a mental construct, made up of memories and discoveries about the past along with expectations and predictions about the future. Past and future only exist in the minds of sentient beings.
nd as Stephen Hawking has pointed out, if time travel were possible, we would be overrun by tourists from the future. Yet not a single credible case of a time traveler has ever been reported. In any case, these species are quite varied. Surely they could not all be from our own future. It took a special set of circumstances for evolution on Earth to produce an intelligent species, and if we were to disappear, it might be hundreds of millions of years before similar circumstances arose again. It might be never.
ery close contact sometimes took place. In number 188 from Vallee's list, a citizen got into a wrestling match with a furry humanoid, about thirty-five pounds in weight, with claws and glowing eyes. Neither were harmed, but this incident and many others show that the aliens are not apparitions. They are flesh and blood, as real and solid as ourselves. Thus, we must reject C.G. Jung's hypothesis, that they are some sort of collective apparition, like sightings of the Virgin Mary.
FOs obvious unwillingness to make official contact puzzled the early investigators such as Charles Bowen. UFOs do not land on the White House lawn, or on Devil's Tower in Wyoming, and say "Take me to your leader." Why not? It is easy to understand if they are anthropologists rather than missionaries, traders, or conquistadors. Human anthropologists try not to change the culture of the primitive tribes they study, and aliens seem to follow the same rule. Some come in disguise, not very believable but still good enough to fool the "extraordinarily stupid." All the species that have visited us have confined their landings to lightly populated rural locations. Most species make no landings.
nother kind of disguise is provided by disinformation. When very close contact takes place, when UFO aliens give messages to humans, such as those in Randolph Winters The Pleiadian Mission, the material given to humans is cleverly constructed disinformation, designed to fit into popular mythologies, such as a belief in Atlantis, but filled with absurdities which will surely discredit this material with scientists. This might seem cruel, but it is a way of avoiding overwhelming our primitive culture, the way the West did with so many primitive human cultures. So the intent is good.
ow do we know they can jump light-years in an instant? Because that is the only practical method of interstellar travel. An alien species which could pass for human told a Swiss farmer that it took them seven hours to travel to the Pleiades. Half that time was spent levitating themselves into deep space, where they made an instantaneous jump of nearly 400 light-years, and then spent another 3.5 hours entering the star system. This alien also told Billy Meier many outrageous lies. But the alien might have told the truth here, knowing we have no way of verifying or refuting such a statement.
he history of the UFO phenomenon provides some evidence for instantaneous jumps over light-years. During WW II, both German and Allied night pilots were disturbed by what the English called "foo fighters," which were small glowing metallic spheres which sometimes accompanied night flights, darting towards the flight or away from it. Both German and Allied flyers thought this was some secret weapon invented by the other, even though the "foo fighters" never did any damage. "Foo Fighters" is now the name of a rock group.
FO sightings only became common after 1947, about two years after the first explosions of nuclear weapons on Earth. I do not think this is a coincidence. I suggest that the "foo fighters" went back to their home worlds and reported that Earth had entered a new and interesting phase. This fact spread along the "grapevine" to the 20 or 30 other space-traveling species in our neighborhood of the galaxy. It has been estimated that there are 50 million civilizations in this galaxy, so the ones that visit us are likely all from stars nearby that we can see in the night time sky with a pair of binoculars.
e became interesting when we invented nuclear weapons, but not a world government or any way to control their use. Scientific conferences were held. Expeditions were planned. They were probably curious to see if we would self-destruct, which must be a common danger for intelligent species. Since it takes time to organize local conferences and scientific expeditions, for them to start arriving two years into our nuclear age is only possible if they can jump light-years.
he only phenomenon which in any way resembles the jumping of light-years is teleportation, an unconscious feature of many poltergeist cases (see Seven Reproducible Studies). When an object reappears after teleportation, it flutters down like a leaf, as if it were nearly weightless, and only gradually regains its normal weight.
he same "falling leaf" phenomenon has been observed of flying saucers (see Vallee's case 133) in Bowen's book. This phenomenon has not been reported in the popular press. The "falling leaf" behavior may even account for the flying saucer's shape. It might make them more controllable in an atmosphere just after teleportation, before they can resume normal mass.
lso, no power supply or propulsion mechanism has been found in crashed UFOs. Oh yes, UFOs have crashed. One crashed in 1947 near the top secret 509th bomber group, stationed at Roswell, New Mexico, the only bomber group in the world capable of delivering nuclear weapons at that time. Most witnesses say it crashed during a violent thunderstorm on July 4, although some say July 2 or July 3.
or many decades, the subject of UFOs was classified above top secret, two points higher than the H-bomb, and had the highest classification of any topic. Witnesses were threatened with their lives.
he chief witnesses today were mere children at the time, and details about these crashes have only come out since about 1985, in part due to the Freedom of Information Act, and in part due to the declassification of much of the material. (See Crash At Corona, by Friedman and Berliner, Paragon House: New York, 1992.)
hat happened to those aliens, and the crashed spacecraft? According to Colonel Philip J. Corso, (Ret), who had control over part of the materials between 1961 and 1963, the one live alien was shot dead when he tried to run away. Not very hospitable. The dead aliens were autopsied. No DNA analysis was made, because DNA hadn't been discovered in 1947. The craft and the pieces were spread around to various military R&D groups. No one has ever been able to figure out what made the craft fly, nor where it obtained the energy for flight. But back-engineering the crash debris had something to do with the invention of the laser, optical fiber, the transistor, the integrated chip, Kevlar bullet proof vests and directed particle beam weapons, according to Corso. (See The Day After Roswell). An alien spacecraft was shot down in 1974 over Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, according to Corso, perhaps by one of these particle beam weapons. But even if we reject the Roswell case, and do not believe Corso, we still have Bowen, which adheres to every known standard of scientific method. Latest info on Roswell as of 19 Oct 2001, at http://www.majesticdocuments.com
which says there were two crashed UFOs near Roswell, and earlier UFO crashes near Los Angeles in 1942.
y conclusion is that UFOs not only exist, they are one of the best documented facts in human history. No matter how improbable. Thus, interstellar travel is possible, because the UFOs do it. And what they have done, we can learn to do as well. But this does not imply that they merely have an advanced technology. Our terrestrial technology already matches that of the Crash at Roswell. We already know enough to rule out the possibility of a Starship Enterprise. See Krauss, The Physics of Startrek, if you won't take my word for it. He has done the calculations.
ichael Shermer, editor of The Skeptical Inquirer, says there is no evidence for UFOs in our sense (star traveling aliens), nor for psychical phenomena (my explanation for their mode of transportation). The cases that Shermer discusses are ones that scientists in our forbidden and outlawed sciences also reject. Mysterious lights in the night-time sky. Mediums who claim to contact the dead. Why do the professional skeptics, the members of CSICOP (the psi-cops), never discuss the classics in either field, the books which set out the essential scientific case for either topic? Books like Charles Bowen's The Humanoids? Books like Professor Ian Stevenson's Twenty Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation? Neither book ever made the best seller lists. Neither book was ever a mass marketed paperback. Maybe extreme skepticism is born of ignorance. I have no doubt that these forbidden sciences will someday be recognized and accepted. This does not mean that everything written on UFOs or Psi is to be accepted. At least ninety-nine percent of it is unscientific trash.
oerner and LeVay have written an excellent book on "The Scientific Quest for Extraterrestrial Life," called Here Be Dragons. It was published in the year 2000. Even the chapter on UFOs is quite interesting, though they clearly belong to the camp of the skeptics. Still, it introduces us to a few of the current champions of both sides, and one important web site, www.ufomind.com. Once this was the world's best web site for UFOs and Mind research. Unfortunately, it was overwhelmed with hits, and is no longer maintained. It still exists, but as a mere shadow of its former self. So there is no single best source, and no substitute for the classics of Ufology and Psychical Research. They are hard to find, and hard to read, being technical monographs, but well worth it for those like me who place their ultimate trust in scientific method.
y motto is "Take Nothing On Faith." Yet most people take everything on faith, putting their trust in priests and scientists, bibles and textbooks. Why do the scientists reject even the possibility of UFOs? It is not because they have read the classics of UFOlogy. It is not because they have made their own investigations. I'm afraid that scientists are just like ordinary people. They take everything on faith, except for that small realm which constitutes their sub-speciality.
nfortunately, science is becoming a religion of reduction to physics, with the psi-cops (members of CSICOP) Michael Shermer and Susan Blackmore the self-elected high priests and Grand Inquisitors of this new faith. Every academic must agree to these articles of faith or face expulsion. All religions are evil on balance, including the religion of science, because they make their followers the chosen ones, filled with righteous wrath and sectarian intolerance, the root of all wars. In the face of ignorance, people will make up tribal myths. But this is no longer necessary. It is now possible to apply the essence of scientific method to every question, in every realm of experience, and that is my job as a philosopher, to make that happen. We now have a science of civilization and a science of Mind (the non-physical part of a person, visible by HSP), and even a beginning of a science of spirituality. Furthermore, these sciences are all necessary if we wish to go to the stars. More anon.
