Goodbye, Columbus released in 1969, was the second feature film Emanuel Gerard worked on as art director. Directed by Larry Peerce (The Incident ), this was Phillip Roth's stinging portrait of successful suburban Jewish family as seen through the eyes of a young man (Richard Benjamin) who falls in love with the daughter (Ali MacGraw). Benjamin and MacGraw's first starring roles, but unknown Meyers steals the show as Ali's brother. Director's father Jan Peerce has a cameo role at a wedding; look for Jaclyn Smith as a model. Music composed and performed by The Association.
