Shaft's Big Score! released in 1972, was the sixth feature film Emanuel Gerard worked on as art director. This sequel to 1971's Shaft, teamed up the talents once again of director Gordon Parks with stars Richard Roundtree and Moses Gunn. Cashing in on the success of Shaft, Shaft's Big Score! featured bigger, more lavish sets and a breath-taking chase sequence that capped off the movie. The exteriors were once again shot in and around New York City including the now defunct Brooklyn Navy Yards. From the exotic interior of Mother Ike's to Shaft's duplex digs and Mascola's Liberache-esque apartment, Emanuel Gerard was at the pinnacle of his career as art director and set designer. |
