Officially the Santa Fe left El Dorado in September of 1942 when the El Dorado district was abandoned. However the Ellinor to DT Junction kept El Dorado on the map. The Santa Fe tracks still run by town and a portion of the former El Dorado district serves an industrial area in town.

This oddball structure sits in downtown El Dorado. It has elements of a modern double-wide trailer complete with imatation wood panneling insde. It is certainly not a depot meant to be an attraction to passengers. It was surely a freight depot. Today it sits vacant last used as a maintenance of way house. The interior is littered with trash and crossing arms. There are signs on the outside of the building which mark "Clerks Only."
