Summer, Baseball and Billy Southworth
Billy Southworth knew and loved the game of baseball. He played major league baseball for the Cleveland Indians, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Boston Braves, New York Giants and St. Louis Cardinals. As a manager he coached the St. Louis Cardinals to a World Series victory over the New York Yankees and was twice named Top Major League Manager. Click above for the details.
The White Lady a.k.a. The Ghost of Samlesbury Hall
In the second part of this three part series, John Southworth documents further reported sightings of the ghost of Samlesbury Hall. The White Lady, if you're not acquainted with her, was purportedly the daughter of Sir John Southworth who had planned to elope with the heir of a neighboring knightly house who had converted to Protestanism. When the secret plans were discovered, her lover was killed to prevent the disgrace and the White Lady was sent to a convent where she died a raving maniac. Major Survey of Samlesbury Hall
Recently a survey of Samlesbury Hall was conducted which examined the grounds and the structure from ceiling to cellar. Lancaster University dug a trench in the front lawn which revealed the wall of the moat that once surrounded the hall. Click above to read more.
