biography n., pl. -phies. Abbr. biog. A written account of a person's life; a life history. [New Latin biographia, from Medieval Greek : BIO- + -GRAPHY.]
Although ten thousand words might not be adequate to capture the thoughts, emotions and experiences of a single day, the lives of too many have passed with little more than a line or two in an official record. Many lessons that might otherwise have been passed down are lost forever, for what isn't written, is soon lost to remembrance. We learn something about ourselves as we learn about our ancestors and we begin to understand the influence, for the better and the worse, they have had on us and the influence which we may have on our children and our children's children.
