1. The training keelboat has been safety inspected by the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association on behalf of the Maritime Coastguard Agency to ensure compliance of the vessel with the appropriate Code of Practice for Small Commercial Vessels.
2. Unlike dinghies, Sailfish 18' keelboats were never designed to capsize as part of the "fun" of sailing and Mumbles Sailing School's RYA qualified Chief Sailing Instructor is unaware of any Sailfish 18' ever capsizing or sinking.
3. Each Mumbles Sailing Club induction course has a modest limit of just three trainees per week ensuring quick results with personal one-to-one on board coaching from a Royal Yachting Association Keelboat Instructor.
4. The Chief Instructor's qualifications include RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor, RYA Senior Keelboat Instructor, RYA Yacht Racing Instructor, RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased qualification, British Red Cross First Aid qualification, The International Certificate of Competence, RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance, the Maritime Radio Operator Certificate of Competence Short Range Certificate, Royal Cape Yacht Club Master's qualification and Department of Education & Science Post Graduate (B.A. Hons) Teacher's Certificate.
5. All instruction is outdoors/afloat - no stuffy class rooms!
6. Mumbles Sailing School's Chief Instructor was awarded the Swansea Sports Award for Contribution To Sport (Sailing) in 2004 and was the Royal Yachting Association's Southern Region Race Training Co-ordinator (The Solent) prior to taking up an appointment as the Royal Yachting Association's South Wales Regional Race Training Co-ordinator.
7. Mumbles Sailing School taught the proprietors of nearby local sailing schools to sail and has a long reputation for reliability and success.
