The TMR Veterans Association was established in December 2006 upon the dissolution of the Trans-Mississippi Rifles organization. The membership of the TMR voted to dissolve the organizational structure and by-laws under which the TMR had operated since December 1983. The association was created as a forum for which all veteran members of the TMR could remain in communication for future events and activities.
The Trans-Mississippi
Rifles (TMR) was established in December 1983 with an initial
membership comprised of veteran members of the "Confederate Guard" of the American Living History Association, Inc. The TMR had
members throughout the state of Oklahoma. The TMR was and the TMRVA continues
to be assigned as Company F of the 1st Arkansas Infantry Battalion (Sander’s),
Trans-Mississippi Brigade (Huckabee's).
The TMR was originally founded as the "Morehouse Guards", Co. B, 3rd Louisiana Infantry. The 3rd Louisiana served with distinction at the battles of "Oak Hills"(Wilson's Creek) & "Elk Horn Tavern"(Pea Ridge) here in the trans-Mississippi west before being transferred with the rest of General Earl Van Dorn's army to Corinth, Mississippi in April 1862... The TMRVA still maintains this identity today and presents living history programs portraying the original members of the 3rd Louisiana Infantry at every historical opportunity...
Members of the TMRVA continue to dedicate themselves towards portraying the common soldier of the war, both Union and Confederate, using the latest research and material resources available today... The TMRVA follows a unique program developed by the TMR that is structured so as to take the guesswork out acquiring uniform items and equipment for individuals and preparing them for service in the field. Individuals purchase all their required uniform and equipment items as specified in the TMRVA Uniform & Equipment Specifications and Resource Directory. This program insures only the most historically correct items are purchased for use by members. This in turn assures the Company's historical integrity in the field...
While the TMRVA is considered strictly an infantry organization, the TMRVA does encourage family member participation through separate organizations closely associated with the TMRVA. Non-military dependents of TMRVA members belong to several civilian-type organizations such as: "Ladies of the TMRVA" and Indian Territory Cadet Corps, Roger L. Hudgins (TMRVA), Headmaster. The ITCC is organized around a private military academy for boy’s age 8 to 15 years. The TMRVA highly recommends this organization for all boys interested in becoming a military enactor at age 16. Several young men have already graduated from the ITCC and entered the ranks of the Company as highly motivated and basically skilled infantrymen.
If you are interested in receiving information about the TMRVA, please E-mail your request to the TMRVA and reference TMRVA Information. An information packet be mailed out to you within a matter of a few days. Please be sure to include your postal mailing address...
Former members of the Trans-Mississippi Rifles continue to participate in battle enactments and are still assigned to the 1st Arkansas Infantry Battalion as Company F. The point of contact if you are interested in participating in events with the Company is TMRVA Member Roger L. Hudgins.

~ 3rd Louisiana
Volunteer Infantry Regiment, CSA ~
Efforts are underway to bring together individuals from across the region that interested in accurately representing the various companies of this famous Confederate Infantry regiment. The first event to portray the 3rd LA at the Leetown battlefield site was held during the March 8th & 9th, 2008 Anniversary Event at Pea Ridge National Battlefield Park. More than twelve individuals participated as members of the 3rd Louisiana during the weekend. The 3rd LA participated in scheduled programs throughout the event along with other Union and Confederate groups from around the region. With the cooperation of the staff at Pea Ridge NMP, plans are underway to muster the 3rd LA several times a year to present living history programs for Park visitors.
While each and every participant is to be acknowledged for the time and effort taken to build their impressions for this first event, special recognition goes to Robert Serio of Missouri Boot and Shoe. Robert’s tireless efforts in researching and producing much of the uniforms and equipment helped bring about a very successful first muster. To be sure – members of the 3rd LA will continue to develop and refine their impressions so as to bring about the most accurate portrayal possible.
If you are interested in building a 3rd Louisiana impression for Pea Ridge, please feel free to contact TMRVA Member R. L. (Rick) Harding.
