October 10, 2002 - Wow. I know it's inexcusable not to update during this season of all seasons, but I'm busy...and pretty much everything people are looking for are available on other sites now anyway. I put a few links in the info section for easy access to some stuff you might need, including postseason information! Keep the e-mails coming - I try to answer all of those (if I know the answer!) - and cheer for your Minnesota Twins today!!
February 25, 2002 - Well, the Twins are in Spring Training, and the stadium bills seem to be progressing, so I guess things are looking up. We're OK for this season at least, and if we do well, probably for a long time to come. Yeah, and I added the 2002 Spring Training schedule, and a link to ticket info for the season.
December 26, 2001 - It looks like maybe a piece of good news! Out of Alabama comes Donald Watkins, who wants to buy the Twins, and not only that, but also build a new stadium, and without any public money! Now, I don't know much, but it seems to me if this guy bought the team and built a new stadium, then they would back off the whole contraction thing. But, the Twins don't seem like the best choice for contraction to start with, so who knows? Stay tuned, in the next two weeks, I should put up all the stats and stuff from 2001, and do some random update type stuff. For more information on the contraction/stadium issue, be sure to visit the mainstay www.savetheminnesotatwins.com or www.savethetwins.info, which was just submitted to me. They are both excellent resources, and updated a lot more frequently than this page!
November 7, 2001 - A little bit of good news at least - Torii Hunter and Doug Mientkiewicz received much-deserved Gold Glove awards, but it pales in comparison to the whole contraction debacle. What can we do? Well, make noise. Let people know it's a mistake. www.savetheminnesotatwins.com continues to be a great site for information about the issues affecting the future of the Twins. I think there should be some sort of Save The Twins Rally to show support for the team. I don't know how feasible this is, or who would plan it, but if it's done right it could send a message to baseball that this would be the wrong thing to do. So, if anyone out there thinks they can pull it off, organize a rally of some kind, hopefully getting some players/coaches to make an appearance, but not necessarily.
November 6, 2001 - I know I haven't done a postseason update or anything (what a season!!), and I apologize, but I HAVE to update now. I just read that the MLB approved the contraction of two as-yet-unnamed franchises, and apparently the Twins are on the "short list". How they could get rid of the team with the 5th best record in the AL is beyond me, but I guess it's the most "economically sound" solution, or something. I think it's ridiculous, and this article says things better than I ever could about it. How about something so revolutionary as a salary cap or profit sharing??? It seems to me that the NFL has been, shall we say, marginally successful with their salary cap system. Same with the NBA. Why does baseball think they have to go another route?? I know I, for one, would completely abandon baseball if the Twins were dropped. Oh well, I guess it's kind of out of our hands.
