Sample problems for PRAXIS II® Math exam

If you want to become a math teacher, most states will require you to take either the Praxis II ® Mathematics: Content Knowledge (0061) exam for high school, or the Praxis II Middle School Mathematics (0069) exam for middle school. Some states name this exam differently, but it is basically the same exam. Click here for some remarks about other states' exams.

When I studied for these exams, I was surprised to discover how few sample problems exist from the major study guide publishers. Further, the study guides seem to be written by academics and do not emphasize test-taking strategies for these very exams.

I recently took both the high school math and middle school math Praxis II exams. I have a bachelor's and master's degree in math. I passed the ten exams leading to becoming a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), ten more exams leading to becoming a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), more exams leading to becoming an Associate in Risk Management (ARM), an Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), an Associate in Management (AIM), and a New York notary. As you can tell, I have taken and passed a few exams in my life. I am probably a lifetime student.

My experience in studying for math exams tells me this: You don't pass math exams by simply memorizing formulas. You pass them by doing lots of problems. So that's what I did in preparing for the Praxis II Mathematics exams. My scores were in the top 15% for both exams.

I am offering to sell my problem sets, with solutions and explanations, that I used in studying for the Praxis II Math exams. Let me give you some free high school samples or middle school samples to show you that I provide a good selection of problems, appropriate for this exam, plus detailed solutions solved in a manner appropriate for this exam. These are problems of the type that might appear on the exam. I will also suggest when to use a graphics calculator in the solution. Let me also give you some free general advice about taking the Praxis II Math exams.

These problems are for the PRAXIS II math exams. I assume you have a good background in high school math plus calculus, although like me, you have forgotten a lot of it, or possibly never quite understood a few topics the first time around anyway. I assume you have access to some textbooks; if not, I highly recommend the Schaum's series.

In most states you are allowed to use an approved graphics calculator for these exams. You will be at a real disadvantage on the exams if you don't use one.

Interested in my problem sets? For the high school problem set, you can have three full exams with suggested solutions for the bargain price of $19.95. For the middle school problem set, I am asking for $19.97 for three full exams with suggested solutions (the middle school set has essays). I accept payment via Paypal, or via direct mail with money orders only.

The problems are online; I will email you the link after I receive payment. (Please note that the problems are only available online.)
