A Virtual Tour Of The 1996
GREAT EASTERN MECHANICAL MUSIC SHOW
The first G.E.M.M. Phonograph, Music Box, Radio, and Musical Instrument Show Took Place on Sunday, November 17, 1996 At The JFK Ramada In JFK Airport, NY
About 40 dealers were on display in a large ballroom, and by the time the dealers had brought in all their wares, the show spilled into the hallway. About 400 persons visited the show, from the time it opened, at 8:30 (when there was already a line to get in!) until the final departure of the last guests and dealers, at about 4:30.
A
large selection of accessories were available, as shown by this impressive
display of needle tins, many of which were new original stock (unused).
Robert
Lomas (Edison Shop) and Tim Fabrizio (Terra Firma) discuss the
merits of the reproducer on this tone arm cylinder machine (a Columbia
BKT, if memory serves).
The
quite motor of this Swiss-made Paillards Echophone was a pleasure
to not hear!
