Paul's Life as a Pastor...

Paul was ordained as a pastor in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, on May 21, 1995 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in St. Louis Missouri. Paul's family moved to South Dakota where he served as Assistant Pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church from 1995 to 2001.
Paul loves his Calling to be a Pastor.
On Aug. 19, 2001, Paul became an Associate Pastor at St. John's Lutheran Church of Orange, CA. Paul is one of four pastors at a church with about 4500 members, and was called to be the Minister of Discipleship there, where he taught new members' classes, 8th grade confirmation, Bible studies and small groups, as well as visited shut-ins. Paul usually preached weekly at one of the 7 different services each weekend.

Paul has been called to Faith Lutheran in Riverside

Beginning on Nov. 1, 2007, Paul will be the sole pastor at Faith Lutheran in Riverside, CA.


(Picture to the left is Dr. Martin Luther, who reformed the Church in the 16th Century). Following in the footsteps of Luther by preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Paul has many opportunities to tell people about the Good News, like Luther (and all Christians).

When not doing pastoral duties, Paul likes to spend time with his family and, like Martin Luther, enjoy some home brew.

Life in Orange...

Moving in Aug. 2001 from Yankton, SD, to Orange, CA, has been a big change. Whereas much of South Dakota is nothing but farms and farmland as far as the eye can see, Southern California is the complete opposite. Even though we grew up in California, it is hard to get use to traffic again after over 6 years in South Dakota where we could drive for hours and only see a few cars! But now the continual hum of freeway noise is unnoticable.

I live in Orange which reminds me a little of small towns in the Mid-west. It's hard to get used to year round 70 degree weather ;-)! But somehow, I'll manage.

I still have many happy memories of SD, where myfirst two children were born. We saw all the interesting sights in SD over the years. If you're ever traveling through there, don't miss the Corn Palace, Badlands, and of course, Mt. Rushmore.
Some of Paul's other favorite places in South Dakota and the midwest were the Micro breweries (check out photos from some of them at my beer page)!
