Lake Ontario
Oswego Area
The water level has been running at about 8,000cfs. Good action is being reported throughout the river for salmon, steelhead, and brown trout. The Kiddie Pool is producing some nice browns. Egg sacs, flies and skein are working well. Salmon can also be found at Wright's Landing using stickbaits, bodybaits and spoons. Look for perch at Wright's Landing, the International Marina and near the Marine Museum. Minnows and spikes are good choices for bait.
Mexico Point
Salmon River Area
** The Lower Fly Section is closed until November 15. The Lower Fly section goes from the County Route 52 bridge in Altmar upstream .25 miles to the marked boundary at Beaverdam brook.** The increased water level appears to be bringing in some fresh fish from the lake, predominantly steelhead at this point. The fish are spread out in the river from top to bottom. The upper section of river is getting the least amount of pressure, but the fish are definitely there. The Douglaston Salmon Run is reporting more steelhead, also a few browns being landed under light fishing pressure.
Oneida Lake
Casting from shore with black/chrome or blue/chrome stickbaits is working well for walleye. The best action has been from around a half hour before dark to eight o'clock. Anglers are finding some walleye by deep trolling. Stickbaits and the nitro minnow in blue/silver and black/silver are working well. Yellow perch can be found in 30-40 feet of water using fathead minnows fished along the bottom.

Irondequoit Bay & Creek

Skaeneatles Lake
Fishing from shore with marshmallows, marshmallow/worm rigs and jigs is working for rainbow trout, landlocked salmon and lake trout. Smallmouth bass are being caught on drop-shot rigs in 15 ft. of water. Yellow perch are hitting fathead minnows in 20 ft of water.
Cayuga Lake
Jigging with spoons or plastics in 80 to 100 ft. of water is working for lake trout, landlocked salmon and the occasional brown trout. Lake trout are also being caught on egg sacs off Taughannock Park. Yellow perch are hitting on minnows and worms.
Seneca Lake
Canandaigua Lake
Keuka Lake
Owasco Lake
Lake trout fishing has slowed for anglers jigging and trolling in the north end. Fish are still being caught in 75 to 115 ft. of water, with 85 ft. being the most productive. Walleye are being caught after dark.
Canadice Lake
Otisco Lake
Anglers trolling stickbaits in 40 feet of water are catching walleye, bass, tiger musky and a few brown trout.

The reservoir has been drawn down earlier then normal this year to allow work on the beach and launch site. The boat ramp at Dorchester park is unusable at this time, please use the launch site at the north end. Car top boats can also launch from Keibel Rd.
Rushford Lake
Silver Lake
Susquehanna River,Chemung River,Chenango River
Walleye fishing has really picked up with the cooler weather. Walleye are hitting Shad Raps and pearl colored plastic swim baits. Smallmouth bass fishing continues to be very good. Tube baits, crankbaits, spinners and minnows are all working. Dark colored baits are still working best.

Rising water improves steelhead fishing on a few smaller tributaries, but Cattaraugus Creek retains the title as top steelhead stream in western New York. Lake Erie water temperatures drop to around 51F.
Rain and snow increased flow and muddied the water on Cattaraugus Creek over the last couple days. However, water clarity is improving and with minimal precipitation in the forecast look for the Catt to flow "green" over the weekend. A tremendous amount of steelhead are already in the creek and more are entering the mouth everyday. The occasional brown trout is also turning up in angler's catches. Breakwall anglers on the lake side have been most productive casting spoons the last few days as creekside conditions have been muddy. As creek clarity improves look for action to improve there as well.
Fishing for steelhead in the lower stretches of Chautauqua and Eighteen Mile Creeks has improved with the slight rise in flow. Water is still quite clear, making the steelies easily spooked. Don't pass up shadows, undercut banks and logs that might hide steelies. Upper Niagara River anglers report northern pike catches from the foot of Ferry Street downstream toward Strawberry Island. Chubs have drawn the most attention from these toothy fighters. Bass catches are common throughout the river, perch and steelhead catches have been reported near the head of the river and at the foot of Ferry Street.
