I'm a Radio Amateur licenced since 1979--my call is NP4CC. Amateur radio operators are able to communicate via short wave radio to all parts of the world as conditions permit and also on other Very High or Ultra High frequencies locally...In the USA ham radio operators are licenced by the Federal Communications Commision. Hams are ambassadors of good will but amateur radio is just plain fun!! I am particularly interested in DX (working distant stations in other countries) and in Contesting where amateurs make the larger number of contacts within an alloted time.
Short Wave Listening
Before I became a ham radio operator,I had started doing short-wave listening--to commercial short wave broadcasters, utility stations and amateur radio operators. Another hobby in itself, it provides interesting listening and an interesting view to the world. You don't need a very expensive receiver or huge antennas to listen in...I still enjoy tuning to the world on the short waves.

Isle of enchantment...
I am a native of Puerto Rico. Located in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico is the largest of the Lesser Antilles and the smaller of the Greater Antilles; a beautiful island with the world's most beautiful beaches....I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico in 1966 with a B.S. majoring in Chemistry and obtained my MD degree from the UPR School of Tropical Medicine in 1970.
I finished my Residency in Pediatrics at the Puerto Rico Medical Center in 1973 and since 1990 I have been in service with the US Air Force.
