I got the chance to go to Star Wars: Special Edition the other day, Saturday Febuary 1st. I had been planning to go for some time. I wanted to see the 4:55 show. We arrived at the theater at around 4:30. Sold out... so we bought tickets for the 7:30 show. We went to the mall for a bit, then came back to the theater at 6:45. The 7:30 show was sold out by then. The Star Wars cups they were selling at the snack bar were sold out. We stood in line for about 20 minutes and got to go in. As I was walking in I heard a little girl being carried by her dad whisper in an awe inspired voice "Star Wars!". The dad said "Yeah, honey... finally." The audience sat through about 25 minutes of previews (I hate that, though Volcano looked kinda cool) and the screen finally said "Feature Presentation". People cheered, people clapped. I almost couldn't believe it. For a movie most people had seen before, and it hadn't even started. I won't tell you about the awesome effects (though they were awesome, especially the sound) because you've probably read about it in the papers. But it was one of the best movies I've seen in a theater (along with Forrest Gump, but people cried then). The crowd laughed and yelled. And the three most famous people in the galaxy were larger than life. There was another, louder cheer that went up as the Death Star was destroyed and again when the credits rolled on. Some people didn't even move after the movie ended. They're waiting for 1999.
