Meet Delilah West:

Marcia Muller is credited with publishing the first female prive eye novel in 1977, but "A case can be made that Delilah West was first," says Armchair Detective Magazine. Delilah debuted in a short story in Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine in 1974. The first of five novels in the series appeared in 1980.
