Much’s Right
By Maddog
That’s all right then.
That’s what I said
But you lied to me.
A kind lie told to a half-wit
Like so many lies, kind and otherwise
That I’d heard.
That’s all right then.
That will be fine.
I understand.
How many times have I said those words?
But I don’t always understand.
Why is a promise to me less
Than the promise made to another man?
Why do I have to accept the laughter?
Accept the things never told to me?
Accept the facts never explained?
Oh, that’s all right then.
Oh, that will be fine.
That was all right then,
But this is now.
