The Maricopa Center for Learning & Instruction outdid themselves with this site. It includes step by step instructions on how to create web pages and includes tutorials that you can download and work with offline! An excellent resource for someone creating their first web page and intermediate web designers will find helpful information here as well!

Green Macmillan's HTML Survival Guide
Strictly for beginners; this page offers an HTML survival guide, which guides you through the process of creating your first web page. Also included are templates you can download and use in creating your own web page!

Green Yellow Caboodles!
When designing a web page, chances are you're going to need some graphics. You'll find tons of them here, ranging from funny to serious, from buttons to bullets. Organization could be a bit better, but eye candy overload is the point here. More targeted towards non-professionals, advanced users probably won't find much here.

Green The Design Shop
Another site for graphics. There's not much here, (yet), but what is here is of the highest quality. Most anyone could get something from this page and I expect great things out of it in the future!

Green HTML Made Really Easy
This doesn't get into any of the complicated stuff. Gives an overview of exactly what HTML is, anatomy of a web page and help with the most common HTML tags. Easy to follow and great reading material.

Green The Completely Free Guide to HTML
The author claims that this is a site that "describes everything to do with designing an HTML document." While I don't think he succeeded in that, what he did succeed in was putting some of the more common questions newcomers pose and give simple, concise answers to those questions. An excellent starting point.

Green Yellow Glover.com
You'll learn some helpful tips here. Jeffrey Glover has put together some top ten lists such as "Top Ten Ways to Improve your Home Page," "Top Ten Ways to Tell if you Have a Sucky Home Page" and much more. Great tips, but maybe a little heavy for newbies.

Green Yellow Red Web Pages That Suck
Alot like the above link, but with more indepth coverage, Vincent Flanders has done a great job pointing out what makes a bad web page. He not only tells what makes for a bad page, but gives actual examples of pages from around the net. A must see for web designers of all levels!

Green Yellow Daniel's Crash Course in HTML
This site covers quite a bit of information. Beginning web designers to intermediate level designers can all learn something at this site. Includes downloadable tutorials, a glossary of terms and even a pop quiz!

Green Page Designing Tips
This is a fairly short document, but sometimes it's best not to create "information overload." Points out some of the basic HTML commands and will only take about five minutes to read.

Green Introduction to HTML and URLs
This is a well laid out collection of some of the most used HTML tags and browser extensions. The author of this page has even written a couple of books on the subject and brings that knowledge to web - for free.

Green ColorEditor for HTML Documents
Check here for an easy to use and understand program that will help you pick the colors to use on your web page.

Green Yellow The Bare Bones Guide to HTML
Just as the name suggests, this is the bare bones of it all. You'll find every HTML 3.2 tag here, as well as all the Netscape Extensions. Because of the complexity of this site, beginners may want to wait until they're finished with their first web page to visit here.

Yellow Red HTML 3.0 - A Guide for Web Designers
This is not for the faint at heart. This site gets into some of the more advanced topics of web design such as server-push, animated gif's, CGI, JavaScript and more.

Yellow Red All the HTML Commands
Not the best laid out site, (in my opinion of course), but it sure makes up for it with sheer information. Makes heavy use of frames, so you will want to use this site at a resolution of at least 800x600 to view it all as it is intended.

Yellow Red Doctor HTML
Don't forget to bookmark this page! What it does is fairly simple, what it provides is information. Enter the URL of a document you want to check and this will point out HTML coding errors, spelling errors, hints and tips for helping the page load faster and much more. I can't praise this site enough!

Yellow W3 Tech Guide to JavaScript!
This tutorial is divided into two major sections: a Non-Programmer's Guide to JavaScript and a Programmer's Guide to JavaScript. The Non-Programmer's Guide assumes you've never coded before. It teaches more from the perspective of: These are cool things you can do. The Programmer's Guide assumes experience with some language. It tells more about how to design your own, more complex scripts.

Yellow Web Monkey!
Produced by WIRED Magazine, this site is reguarly updated with articles of interest to intermediate web designers. Covers plug-ins, the browser wars and much, much more. A great read with lots of facts and figures.

Yellow Red Tips & Tricks for Web Page Designers
This site gets into a few of the more advanced things you can do with your web page. It covers animated gifs, java, creating good, clean HTML, simple ways to improve your web page and much more.

Yellow Red Yale C/AIM WWW Style Manual
Great tips from the folks at Yale's C/AIM department. Covers some of the more advanced style considerations of the web.. These include WWW site structure, efficient use of the web, well-balanced page and menu designs and much more. Heavy reading for sure, but information you're likely not to find anywhere else.

Yellow Red ASCII Symbol Table - with HTML codes
If you're wanting to use ASCII codes in your web pages, this is the place to find the HTML extensions that are supported. Simple and concise.

Yellow Red Creating Killer Web Sites
These guys wrote a book, but put much of it on the web for folks to browse through for free! Covers design tips, browsers, indepth coverage of web tools and even gives some example sites for you to look through. A must for any serious web designer.

Yellow Red Creating Graphics for the Web
Simple and to the point, this site covers nothing but graphics and the web. There's an anti-aliasing guide as well as detailed coverage of GIFs and JPEGs, optimising PhotoShop for use with the web and much more. Another page no serious web developer should leave unturned.

Red Crash Course in Java!
This tutorial will teach you how to code in Java, assuming you already have a working knowledge of C. It will also help is you are familiar with the object-oriented paradigm. It is based on the course EECE291: Multimedia Progamming, offered by Vanderbilt University.
