Folic Acid

Folic acid is important in pregnancy, especially in the first several weeks. Below are natural sources of folic acid:

  • Herbal Sources:
    • Watercress
    • Parsley
    • Chicory
    • Dandelion
    • Amaranth
    • Lamb's Quarter greens

  • Food Sources:
    • Whole grains
    • Liver
    • All leafy greens

Caution: Epileptics should be cautious of pill supplements of folic acid; doses over 1 milligram daily may increase seizures.
