Rebuilding, Phase II

The Phillies claim to have a plan for getting to the post-season by 2000.  How some key players perform in 1998 will give an indication of that plan is on the right track.  Will Desi Relaford, Bob Abreu, and Doug Glanville produce?  Will Billy McMillon and Calrton Loewer make it back from AAA?  Can Scott Rolen avoid the sophmore slump?

No matter how much I'd like to, I can't spend every hour of the day following the Phils. These commercial sites are the next best thing. Check them out for the most current news, as well as stats & summaries from the 1997 season:

• The Official Phillies site Things are getting better--press releases, stats, rosters, even chats.  Plus, this year they're providing web-casts of every game.
• NandO Net's Phillies page The best place to start--news, stats, pics, everything!
• MLB's Phillies Page another good place to start for basic information.
• USA Today's Phillies Page Sports are what McPaper does best. Now including most of the articles from Baseball Weekly.
• The Daily News and Inquirer Hometown coverage for out-of-town fans (like me) who don't have regular access to the real thing.(A frames-capable browser is required.)
• The Sporting News  One of the oldest sports publications now provides great coverage using the newest technology.
• The Phillies Fan Union--organized to give Phillies Fans a voice at the Vet.

You can also check out ESPNet and Sportsline yourself, but I don't provide free links to subscription services. These sites do provide updated scores to non-subscribers, as does Yahoo.

Ever wanted to see what the Phillies' clubhouse is like?  How about the press box?  This behind the scenes tour, from the 1996 Holiday Fair, gives you a glimpse of the parts of the Vet you don't usually get to see, as well as some pics of Phillies players of today & yesterday.

After a long career as a Phillie, Darren Daulton joined the Florida Marlins just in time to be part of a World Series winner.  Check back for some highlights from his Phillies carrer, as well as those of some famous former teammates, such a log of each of Mike Schmidt's 548 home runs.
