Welcome to the Home Page of the International Association of Development Lawyers (IADL). IADL is in the process of being organized as an international non-governmental organization to be operated on a non-profit and non-political basis exclusively for the following purposes: (i) To promote the role of law in development; (ii) to advance the academic and professional interests and activities of and foster closer relationship among development lawyers; (iii) to promote the dissemination of information and communication among and provide education and training to development lawyers; and (iv) to establish a professional code of ethics for development lawyers. The membership of IADL is proposed to comprise: (i) legal practitioners working in or for: (a) international, regional and national development organizations, and (b) government and other public institutions in developing countries; (ii) private lawyers who are qualified or experienced in the field of law and development; (iii) academics in the field of law and development; and (iv) development law institutions. IADL is presently based in Washington, D.C.
