Otolaryngology refers to the study of ear nose and throat diseases. Otology and Neurotology are subspecialties of otolaryngology, and deal in greater depth with problems relating to the ear, specifically the hearing, balance and facial nerves.
Many of our referrals come from other ear nose and throat physicians scattered throughout Florida and other states as well. Since there are only a handful of otologists and neurotologists in the South Florida area, patients often travel a great distance for this type of specialized care. As a result, our practice is geared to handle patients who have difficult problems.
As a referral center, we find that some patients have often “been frustrated” while trying to find an answer to their very difficult problems. Many of these problems may indeed have no conventional solution. Some of these problems, however, are the subject of new research protocols that are being studied in our practice. Without encouraging false hope, the use of these research protocols has found success where conventional therapy has failed. Although we may not be able to solve every problem, we take pride in working “extra hard” to find some solution.
