Bey is perhaps the last major character to be introduced in Marvel's Star Wars series, although his first appearance is something of a tangle. Apparently due to some missed deadlines, the story of Bey's first appearance (issue 101) was printed after his actual first appearance in issue 99. At the time this was a bit confusing, but back issue collectors need only remember to read issue 101 first.

All of Bey's adventures can be found in "Far, Far Away", volume 7 of Star Wars: A Long Time Ago..., Dark Horse Comics' trade paperback series reprinting the entire Marvel run.

Bey

From the Apocrypha of Voren Na'al

The age of the Empire following the fall of the Republic and prior to the coming of Luke Skywalker is not generally known as a time of heroes. But even after the death of Qui-Gon Jinn and the disappearance of Cody Sunn-Childe, there were still those not afraid to stand for the innocent and protect the weak.

There was none more famous than Bey. Bey was born of a Corellian father and an alien mother, a mixture that explains his impressive stature. A half-breed in xenophobic times, Bey was often viewed with suspicion and fear, but he never hesitated to give aid where it was needed, even to those who questioned his motives. He won the vaunted Corellian Bloodstripe but was too humble to wear it. He even lost an eye saving lives, but still did not give up the fight.

Before long, Bey had become a legend. He fought against the Empire, and never asked for anything in return.

Until the day he found his home.

Bey's mother was an advanced scout for the Nagai, and, by accident or luck, one day Bey found himself beyond the galactic perimeter and among the worlds of the Nagai. He was reunited with his mother and discovered that he had a brother. They accepted him without reservation or mockery. For the first time, Bey's restless spirit felt at home.

Shortly after the destruction of the second Death Star, the Nagai invaded Alliance space and attempted to destroy the Rebel base on Endor. Bey passed on intelligence to the Nagai and aided his brother, the notorious Nagai agent known as Knife, on the ground. Ultimately the Nagai were thwarted, and Bey realized he was no more Nagai than he was Corellian.

After the Alliance reached a truce with the Nagai to jointly battle their common foe, the Tofs, Bey reappeared on the world of Saijo and was instrumental in the final battle against the Dark Lady Lumiya and the Tofs.

Bey's closest friend, perhaps his only friend, was Han Solo whom he had known since they were boys on Corellia. Of Bey, all Solo would tell me is this, "There's always been one guy who was a bigger man than I am... an' whatever I am today, I got that way tryin' to measure up to him."
