Observations of a Pollock Painting

There is simplicity in there somewhere

beneath the splatters and the dots

beyond idealist thoughts

around confusion and chaos

before the beauty was lost

On first glance, it's a mess

Too many colors, not enough depth

"I could do that!"

says the unhappy child

and maybe he will

we might see in a while

On second look, it makes sense

So many thoughts, more and more depth

turquoise for boys

swirls for girls

applied with a splatter

mind within matter

A third consideration leads to more thought

looking for patterns, making long shots

There is simplicity in there somewhere

above the common associations

beyond the boring pontifications

through mind and body

into the soul

rich with beauty

simple
