This site is still under construction, so please pardon any inconveniences that you will undoubtedly encounter. Actually, the site will probably be in a continual state of renovation and change for sometime. In addition, please be aware that we are relative "newbies" when it comes to creating a WWW site, but we are learning as we continue creating, modifying and adding to this small part of the World Wide Web. You are most welcome to browse around all you wish and we hope you do not stumble too often as a result of our disarray. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.
For now we offer the following:
Explore Dale West's US Gen Web Project Town of Georgetown, Mass. site. This is where you will find a complete online copy of Jeremiah Spofford's 1888 SPOFFORD/SPAFFORD genealogy. Georgetown was the site of John Spofford's "Old Farm" and the home of many of his descendants, even today.
An excursion at Gene Spafford's Home page. Gene is a distant cousin and does many interesting things at Purdue University with computers, security and the internet.
A plethora of neat stuff on Yorkshire. Be sure to check out the links to the Northowram Register of Non-Conformists and West Riding. The burial of Mrs. 'Spawford,' widow of John Spofford, the vicar, is mentioned (p.60 of Heywood), along with lots of historic 'flavor' of 17th Century Yorkshire. Also, contains a listing of Yorkshire History & Genealogy Societies.
A great place for all UK + Ireland genealogy.
For some background and history of the American Colony in Jerusalem founded by Horatio and Anna Spafford and continued by their daughter Bertha Spafford Vester, check out the Smithsonian Magazine - March 1997 .
