Sega Genesis Intro:   Genesis was made to be the first 16 bit machine and possibly the first to use Mega- for megabytes.  The first system was actually the Master System.  I have the Master System II the upgraded version.  I bought the Genesis, not because of graphics, but because of three things:

The Genesis is known to have better graphics from the NES, but not as good as SNES.  (Genesis is known to have 61/512 colors, while SNES has 256/32768 colors.  I do not know what this exactly means but I believe that the general color schemes are the first, while the second is the maximum that can be programed.)  Yet, Genesis has a faster CPU than the SNES.  I also have seen some of the SNES games and I sometimes wonder where all the good graphics in the SNES have gone.  It probably is that the graphics would take too much room to make it very good.  So in the long run, Genesis and SNES are practically the same.  The only differences are several games that are made just for those systems.

This site just gives basic reviews to both Genesis and Playstation games. It is by belief to give as good, objective information as I can. PLEASE NOTE: That this is my personal opinion and that when I say something has good graphics on a Genesis, that it is based on the graphics capability of the Genesis. That goes with the Playstation too.

Sony Playstation Intro: The Sony Playstation (PSX) is one of the best consoles of today. Sony came out with the Playstation in 1995 and has had many developers developing loads full of games just for any kind of gamer. The average or possibly the casual gamer would enjoy the Playstation. Many older SNES/N64 gamers resent the Playstation for its popularity and success in the industry.

The Playstation's specs are having 33mhz CPU, 2mb RAM and 2x CD. (maybe it is 4x) The Playstation can also play CD music. With this small power, the Playstation has several VERY good looking and powerful games that make the Playstation a really good experience. Games like: Final Fantasy 7, Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter, X-Men Mutant Academy, Street Fighter Alpha3, Gran Turismo, and Need for Speed 3 and 4. These games have gotten very good and bright graphics. Because of the speed of the cpu, framerates tend to slow down at times of graphic overload. This is the main gripe about the Playstation, it runs best with a single player.

Sony now is coming out with the PS2. This little machine might be a great success or a possible downhill failure. Personally, I think it won't do too well, but I don't think it will actually go downhill. I plan to get it eventually next year. The PS2 specs are 300mhz, 4mg Video Ram, 32mg DRAM, DVD-ROM drive for playing games AND DVD Movies, PS1 cpu to play regular PSX games and even adds finishing touches to several games such as Metal Gear Solid. It is also a CD Player. The PS2 is considered the ultimate Entertainment Machine. The PS2 will be coming to the USA on Oct. 26 of this year. The reason for the possible failure is that 4mg Video RAM and programming for it will be a lot more complicated which might discourage programmers. I believe by the end of next year, if developers stick with the PS2, it will still be a good success.
