What is the Faith & Work Project?
The Faith and Work Project project is a continuing initiative,
commenced in 1992, within Maine
Consulting Services (UK), a small specialist management
consultancy based in Blackburn, Lancashire, in the North West
of England. The project runs in parallel with (and with cross-links
to) the "normal" commercial consultancy business of
Maine in the UK and elsewhere, especially the business ethics
component of our consultancy work. We seek to avoid duplicating
what others are doing, but to work in partnership wherever possible.
We aim to research and to promote practical approaches to the
application of Christian ethics within business and professional
life. On the one hand these must be morally and spiritually challenging.
They must also be meaningful, in both language and style, to people
wrestling from day to day with the down-to-earth realities of
the business world with all its uncertainties and dilemmas.
I hope gradually to upload more of the study modules produced
within the project, plus texts of speeches and papers from recent
years, and am also working on the development of new pages associated
with the Business & Professions Network,
one of the pan-European specialist networks of "Hope
for Europe" - a joint initiative of the European
Evangelical Alliance with several other organisations.
A key partnership involvement is as a management team member
(currently Acting Chairman) of the Ridley
Hall Foundation at the Ridley Hall (Anglican) Theological
College in Cambridge, England. The links here will take you to
information about the Foundation's "Faith in Business"
initiative and our journal, Faith
in Business Quarterly.
I trust that these pages will be useful. Please feel free to
make suggestions for the future.
