Segment Producer Anne Silva produced two stories on the geology of Valley of Fire. The first explains where the unique land formations came from. In the second we find out where it is all going. The story is illustrated with images of the incredibe rock formations that Anne and Dr. David Wiede of UNLV discuss. The geology presented here is why millions of people come from all over the world to visit the Pacific Southwest.

They're creepy, and they're crawly and Brian Wignall got up close and personal with them. What enabled him to bring us so close to the action is the use of a lipstick camera. In the tarantula segment Brian gives us a better insight into the lives of these misunderstood creatures.

The hiking is great at Valley of Fire. One of its most attractive features is the lack of restrictions on where you can hike. For the most part you're only restricted by your abilities. But if you prefer to hike an established trail, particularly an easy one, you might want to take the time to hike the Petroglyph Canyon trail. |
|
The White Dome trail isn't yet designated as a trail, although there are future plans to do so. For now you'll just have to find you own way. But don't worry. It's a breeze to find it. And although it is only about a mile in length it is so full of geologic, plant, and animal variety it is well worth your while. |
