Until September 19, 1942 the Lindsay district connected with a Rock Island line to Chickasha. This was one of two Rock Island/ Santa Fe Lines in Oklahoma that met halfway between the Santa Fe and Rock Island North South lines through the state. The other was a line from Seward to Cashion. The Rock Island picked up there and continued to Kingfisher on the Twin Star Rocket Route.
The Santa Fe eventually abandoned the line which for years supplied broomcorn for broom manufacturers. Today a short mile-and-a-half section of this line still exists from the former wye in Pauls Valley to the Viskase plant in town. Stone milepost markers were used on this line. One still exists today (1998) inbetween the Viskase plant and some grain elevators. A set of tracks was recently orphaned by the city of Pauls Valley when the line was severed just past Viskase. An overgrown section of track extends about a mile from this point. A medium sized tree is growing inbetween the ties next to the Amoco Pipeline facility.
Only one depot remains on this line (not counting Pauls Valley.) This depot is located in Lindsay. The other depots in this timetable are long gone.

This image shows a segment of the orpahed trackage. At the time this photo was made the track was still attached to the main Lindsay district trackage. However, a locomotive would have to ram a tree to reach this point. The trackage is barely visible and the old wooden crossbuck has also seen better days.
