Baldwin (sometimes called Baldwin City) is the home of the Midland Railway. This is one of several excursion operations in Kansas. The museum grounds are filled with rolling stock and power from some strange locations. The prize of the collection is a Rock Island E unit.

Also on the museum grounds is this attractive little county seat depot. Its design is based loosely on that of the turn of the century brick structures that were built prior to the typical county seat design. Other examples of this style include Iola, Independence, Sterling, Florence, Garden City, and Lamar, CO to name several. The roof is of a very unusual design.

Time has not been kind to this former Santa Fe business car. It is the 407. The paint is peeling and rust is beginning to take its toll. One wonders what the interior looks like.
