EASTERN DIVISION ATCHISON DISTRICT

Like the line from Topeka to Emporia this line dates back to the early years of the Santa Fe. In fact the bridge to North Topeka was originally built to bring materials for building the Santa Fe line to Emporia and westward. The line is gone today. The tracks were removed in 1993. The topography is about a fifty fifty mix of farmland and light forest. There is also the crossing of the Missouri River into Missouri east of what is Atchison Union Station.
