FACTS ABOUT JUPITER
- Jupiter is larger than all the
other planets combined
- The planet has 16 moons.
The four largest are visible
with a good pair of binoculars
- Spinning very rapidly, Jupiter
rotates once every ten hours.
- The famous "red spot" is a huge cyclonic storm.
- Jupiter was recently struck by fragments of
comet Shoemaker-Levy, creating impact marks
visible from Earth.
Basic Canoe Safety
- Always wear an approved
Personal Floatation Device (PFD).
- Always stay low or seated
in the canoe.
- If capsized. the canoe will float.
Stay with it.
- Dress for water temperature,
not air temperature
- Know the conditions and your
capabilities. Don't take risks.
- Drinking and boating don't mix.
Basic Canoeing Principles and Skills
- Basic Principles:
- Most steering is done from the rear of the canoe
- Steering works best when canoe is moving faster than the river
current
- If your camera and lunch are not in waterfproof bags, the
canoe will tip over
- Relax and have fun
