David P. Thomas, Project Management Experience:
- Wisconsin Labor Video Project. Coordinator, 1989-91
Responsible for research and needs assessment, video library development
and production of educational and promotional videotapes for Wisconsin
State AFL-CIO. Developed 22 city statewide cable TV distribution
network in conjunction with monthly TV series.
- National Federation of Local Cable Programmers (NFLCP,).
President, Milwaukee Metro Chapter, 198486 (Awarded "Best
Chapter" at 1986 National Conference). Regional Board representative,
1984-1987. Regional Conference Coordinator, 1985-1987 Coordinator
for October '85 Regional Conference, attended by 250 people from
9 states. Included 40 workshops, screening and roundtable sessions
and set organizational records for fundraising.
- Milwaukee Access Telecommunications Authority (MATA).
Bylaw committee, 1983. Facility and Equipment Subcommittee, made
recommendations for utilization of $1.6 million capital budget,
1984. Earned five separate Awards for "Outstanding Achievement
in Community Programming". Board of Directors, October 1988
to 1991
- Afro-American Biography Project Served as technical
director and supervising editor. This was a joint effort of the
UWM Departments of Film, Afro-American Studies and Educational
Psychology. The project produced a series of video biographies
of local Black leaders for use in career counseling. August 1983
to March 1984.
- University Film Services As Manager, was responsible
for complete operation, Instituted improvement procedures, doubled
assets and increased volunteer participation. January to August,
1983
- Briggs and Stratton/ Strattec Corporation. As designer
and builder of industrial machine controls, worked as team member
on projects that included engineers, managers, set-up technicians
and operators. 1986-1995
