Larned is the begining of the Larned District. The line to Jetmore is desolate and remote. The waving wheat fields are especially beautiful west of town just past Fort Riley. It is very interesting to experience the transition from Great Bend to the western High Plains. For an additional photo of this depot see Joe McMillian's Wheat Lines and Super Freights page 81.

This depot was probably based on the same floorplan as the Sterling depot. Many of its design elements are similar such as the squared off office bay. It probably lacked a streetside drivethrough however as the street runs very close to this side of the depot. This depot is a restaurant.
