In a way Ellinwood was not only a "division point" but also the separation between the Eastern Lines and the Western Lines. It was located on the Eastern Lines, Middle Divison, McPherson District and the Western Lines, Western Division, First District. Trains terminated here from both lines as shown above.


This depot is one of the strangest on the entire railroad. It is like no other depot on the railroad. There are remote similarities to Wadsworth in the hip roof design, Alva, OK and Ft. Madison in the design of some exterior decoration. Could this have been a variation on a Marion & McPherson standard?
