Kotick Cubs - The White Seal

Why is our pack called Kotick?

Like many packs in the country, including indeed the majority of packs in the Haltemprice District, we take our name from the Jungle Book. Since most of the familiar names - Mowgli, Hathi, Bagheera, etc. - were in use by other local packs either as pack names or names for leaders, we chose a less well known Jungle Book character.

Kotick is a seal, the leading character in the Jungle Book story "The White Seal". The story is included in the original Jungle Book alongside the famous stories that are told to cubs, and turned into films! The White Seal tells of the adventures of Kotick, his travels across the seas and his return to rescue his kinsmen from the men who capture the seal pups.
