Kwik Cricket - Kotick v. Masai
The Mike Dixey Trophy was donated to the District by Willerby Methodist Scout Group in memory of their late Group Scout Leader. The trophy is passed from pack to pack on a challenge basis. Challengers are chosen at random by the Assistant District Commisioner for Cubs.
In May, Willerby Methodist Cubs played Masai Cubs of South Cave in the first challenge. The challenge game was Ten-pin Bowling and Masai won. For the second challenge Masai chose Kwik Cricket and their opponents were selected - Kotick Cubs.
The game was played at South Cave Sports Centre and an exciting game it was too. Both packs had good attendances and the simplicity of the game meant that everyone became involved from the start. The packs had two innings each, the first 20 minutes and the second 15 minutes. Finally, after much excitement, Kotick were announced as the winners.
Amidst celebrations from the visiting team, the Trophy was presented by one of the Masai leaders.
Thanks were expressed to all the Masai leaders, and the boys, for the organisation and enthusiasm put into this event. Finally a team photograph of the Kotick boys and leaders was taken as a souvenir of the second Melting Pot Challenge.
