Haltemprice District Five-a-Side Football Tournament 2000

The Year 2000 Five-a-Side competition was one of the most hotly contested for many years.

Kotick 'A' won all but one of their four Group games, drawing 1-1 with Mohawk of Willerby. This brought a nervous sudden-death play-off with Mohawk for the right to play in the semi-final. After almost 5 minutes of play Kotick snatched victory with a well struck shot from wide on the left.

The semi-final was less close, our opponents, Simba 'A', had earlier finished above Kotick 'B' to win their group. After a slow start however, Kotick gradually took control and ran out comfortable 7-0 winners.

The final was against old rivals Lowfield. Having shared the League title earlier in the year this was always going to be a close match. Lowfield took the lead early in the game but Kotick battled on and scored an equaliser to force extra-time. Extra time was tense with both goalkeepers making good saves. Kotick took the lead and looked like holding on until a Lowfield equaliser minutes from time.

So the Trophies are shared and Audrey Harris, ADC (Cubs) presented the two teams with their cups. Photographs below show the trophy presentation and the victorious Kotick team with their coach.
