Colin's Home Page

Caveat: This is currently very much a work-in-progress effort as I put together a personal WWW site. The format and information contained herein will be evolving fairly rapidly over the next month.

I'm a graduate student studying for my Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. My research concerns the mechanism of transformation by the herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) protein, ICP10. I will be defending my thesis within the next few weeks and am currently searching for a job. My CV is available should you be a prospective employer.

Outside of the lab, my greatest passions are computing (initially on the Acorn BBC micocompter, before graduating to the Apple Macintosh platform), electronics and home theatre. One of the hottest areas in home theatre right now is LaserDisc AC-3 audio, and I have made available details on how to add AC-3 output to older model LD players which are not AC-3 ready. The information is on my AC-3 modification page.
