The Nephew

Chad, a young black American from New York arrives on a remote Irish Island to bring back his mother's ashes to her birthplace. His appearance, whist generally causing consternation among the islanders, reawakens a decades-old family feud between the boy's uncle Tony (Donal McCann) and Joe Brady (Pierce Brosnan), the well-to-do local pub owner. As the situation deteriorates Chad tries to make the best of things and begins a tenative relationship with Aislin, Joe's daughter. Deftly made by first time filmmaker Eugene Brady, this is a powerful, emotionally involving drama set against a stirring Irish rural landscape. The Nephew also marks Pierce Brosnan's debut as a producer and his return to Ireland after a gap of nearly 10 years.
