Welcome to the best kept secrets in gaming. News of these games have
been spread by word of mouth to a very few. Now you have a chance
to play them too.
Bureau 13 has over 20 published supplements and support material,
but only 3 have been carried nationally. The internet offers an inexpensive
avenue to bring this information to you. Spread the word.
The TTS game system was the first truly universal game system (predating
GURPS by quite a few years). With it a GM could play High Fantasy or
High Flight. The gamebooks were written with flexibility in mind and
actually expected the GM to have enough intelligence to use the rules with
common sense. It was widely praised for its realistic system. The
players could have confidence that if an action made sense, it could be
accomplished. Firefights were quick and lethal. Heroic play was
encouraged.
So if you have never played any of the TTS games (Bureau 13 - the first modern
day supernatural RPG, Fringeworthy - the first interdimensional RPG, Incursion
- the first alien abduction RPG, or FTL 2448) you owe yourself a treat.
Try to find it at your local game store, but you can order any of them
directly from Outpost Games or
Tri Tac Systems.
Outpost Games has been authorized to produce a new version of Bureau
13 and Fringeworthy. This will result in the following
changes:
-
The game system will be separated as much as possible from the actual game
world. It will be "realistic" in that you (the player) should be able
to do what you think you should be able to do. It will include basic
character generation (attributes & skills), weapons, vehicles, magic,
psionic, and all situation resolution. My current estimates are that
the system will run 100 pages with the preponderance being descriptions rather
than rules. Options for easier and more detailed play will be clearly
marked. The GM merely decided how much detail he or she wants in each
area of resolution.
-
This will be released with Bureau 13. This new version will be set
in the near future. All information in the Lost Files, some Terror
Watch articles, and the current Bureau 13 manual will be carried through
and expanded to the setting year. It will include expanded information on
Bureau 13 training, resources available to the teams, various types of play
(investigative, assault, cleanup, roving or regional, etc). The enemies
of the Bureau will be fleshed out and the scope of their threat clearly marked.
Extensive instruction on the use of the Kirilean Detector as well as
other equipment will be provided. Layouts of the Colorado Training
Base, Catskills, and other bases will be provided as well as their rules
of operation. The Bureau rules of engagement will be listed as well
as a cascading set of guidelines for agents in the fields. This book
should be the same size as the current edition and will include about 100
pages of completely new material. Also included will be a new competing
supernatural elimination organization whose history intertwines with the
Bureau in a most surprising way.
-
Following this is the new release of Fringeworthy 2016. This will include
all material previously published in Infinite Crossroads, greatly expanded,
as well as improved world and species generation, expanded Tehrmelern technology
and expanded campaign and exploration instruction.
Information on the actual dates of publication are not currently available.
Estimated is sometime in 2001.
Due to a distributor discount the price on the Bureau 13 CD-Rom has dropped
from $49.95 to $19.95. Get your copy of this excellent game.
