Gleiter flies!
Cochrane WI
December 12, 1995
Dear Grant,
Enclosed is a check for membership in the BPA and a picture of my Pietenpol Air Camper.
I test flew it on September 2, 1995.
My Dad and I purchased the 1933 plans from B. H. Pietenpol in the 1970's and started to build our Air Camper. We are full time farmers and did not have much extra time to work on it.
We built the original short wood fuselage and one-piece wing. I made my own wheels using 600x6 tires. No brakes; we made the tail skid as shown. It has a 12.5 gallon aluminum fuel tank.
The Ford "A" engine with aluminum high compression cylinder head turns 2100 R.P.M. in the air. It was rebuilt by Lorenz Rusert.
The wood prop is 72 x 50, built by Al Schubert. Cruise is 60 - 70 M.P.H.
I am sorry my Dad (Myron) passed away two years ago. He got much enjoyment from the Pietenpol airplanes.
Thanks to Al Schubert of Galesville, Wisconsin and the excellent people in the EAA and the B.P.A.
Sincerely,
Fred Gleiter (W1080 Schoepps Valley Road, Cochrane WI 54622-8155)
