(5/12/05) For Sale Grant, I have a Model "A" engine with 80 flying hours on it, probably that many more ground hours, that was rebuilt with new pistons, valves, and re-babbitted before I bought it. It only had 10 hours on it when I bought the Pietenpol in 2002. I have put the rest of the time on it. I am in the process of replacing the Ford with an O-200 and would be willing to sell the Ford engine, mount, radiator, radiator mount, and Wico-mag that mounts in the distributor hole. This is a strong engine, 100 thousands over size pistons and a police head of about 6 to 1 compression. I've thought about putting it in a car, and may end up doing that. I have a Sterba prop, a 76/44, that cruised me at 65 to 70, depending on the temperature. Anyone would have to re-bore the mounting holes as I filled them with dowels and T-88, thinking I would re-bore it for the O-200 hub, but Ed Sterba changed my mind when we discussed it. So, I have a fire-wall forward model-A for any interested party for $3000. Tom Lester jeanlester@ntown.net 865 577 0892

(2/23/04) Thanks for running the ad re: the Corvair engine I had in Gardena, CA.
I ended up shipping it to SC. Since then, I've found quite a few Corvairs after initially finding none on a junkyard network search. Turns out many junkyards aren't members of the network.
Anyway, you can pull the ad as the engine is now on the east coast. I have gotten a number of inquiries, so your site is effective. Thanks.

(11/11/03) For Sale Corvair engine
I bought a Corvair engine on ebay. Then found out how much it would be to ship it to the east coast (ok, not the smartest way to go about it).
To make a long story short, I'm willing to sell this Corvair engine cheap to anyone who will pick it up.
The engine is in Gardena Calif. 90249.

I'm in the process of moving to the western US and need to sell my pietenpol project. I hope you can help me and list this on your web page.

I've put a great deal of care into this project, over 300 hours and it is well built. It would be easy to finish from this point.
I'm will sell it all for $1,400.00. I can be reached at 740-387-2438 or billandsusan@marion.net.
Thank you very much,

(12/10/02) Hello Grant,
Great site! I have a Model 'B' engine which was converted and flown in a Pietenpol by the late Bud Dodson. Bud rebuilt and restored many aircraft over the last forty years of his life. Bud was a professional machinest as well as an aircraft mechanic. He built a Pietenpol with the Ford engine, flew it a few times then installed a Continental with considerable more power, which was more to his liking.
I bought the Ford engine at least fifteen years ago & it has been stored ever since. It should be torn down & inspected before someone hangs their life on it. I have not looked at it for years but I think the engine mount is with it.
It costs about $2500 to rebuild a Model 'A' engine now. I would sell this for $1800 US. complete. It is now near Toronto Ontario, if it was of any help it could be delivered to Bazine, KS or Chickesha OK in March 2003.
Thank you,
Jack Innes

(2/13/02) Grant,

Thank you so much for letting me place the ad, if it does not take up too much space you can just post it as written. There are several radiators also, the one that was on it (with a nice impression of the water pump pulley) and two others that could be adapted but, I suppose, that can come under the heading of "more" as it is mentioned. There is still more, but I can describe all of that to anyone who is interested. Probably the best email address to use is my personal one, dixon71@aol.com, I can access that one more frequently, esp. on the weekends and such. The Pietenpol items are located in CA, for those who are interested in knowing that.
Thank you again very much. Tom

Dear Grant,
I have for sale some items which may be of interest to Pietenpol fans out there. As you may know, 688Y was Pete Bower's 1930 built airplane, he discovered it in a foundry and began the "restoration" in the late 60's, at that time he restored it to as close to the original 1930 configuration as possible, then he later sold the ship and it was damaged in a landing accident in about 1972, or so.
What I have for sale is the original 1930 airframe, somewhat damaged by the accident (it struck a fence post and spun the plane around, eventually going on its back, oops), a second fuselage which could be used to replace the original if so desired, (the original can be repaired if wanted) new wing ribs, new streamline tubing for new struts, a St. Croix propeller (new), a genuine Funk conversion of the Model B, (the engine that Peter used in the plane when he flew it, quite rare), a nice pair of genuine antique aircraft style wire wheels (again, ones Pete used), some rare 20's instruments, very neat smooth white rubber tires for the wheels, and more. Oh, a second Model A engine partially set up to be used in a Piet. There is really lots of stuff here, almost two airplanes, or one and plenty of spares. I would like to list these items for sale on your web site if that is possible. Please let me know if that is possible and what it may involve. I am asking $11,500 for this collection, it is probably worth much more than that but I would like to see it go to a "good" home where it can be used and appreciated. It is available as a package only, please understand. Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide me. Sincerely,
Tom Dixon
