Well, if you've been searching the provided webpages, you have somewhat of an idea. However, we at Not Like Most realize that some of you aren't Satanists and, quite frankly, need a kick-start into this dark and strange religion/ philosophy that is Satanism. Some of you may not be motivated beyond the "books on tape" mentality, so, here's the earnest attempt. Pay attention, because this isn't going to be on Geraldo or Oprah, or from anyone else who wishes to lie for the unwarranted ego boost and viewer ratings.

First of all, there are going to be many who are going to call themselves Satanists. We know better, and so should you. Anyone can say they are something, but few can show it... the very cornerstone of true Satanic representation. It really shouldn't be an obsession to overtly expound on how "Satanic" you are. True Satanists show themselves in their actions, not in their rhetoric. (Much like being brilliant. Those with the mental gift are KNOWN for their excellence from what they accomplish, and have to remind no one of it.) That's a solid litmus test, one that stands between Satanists and Not-Satanists. Anyone who feels they have to try to be a Satanist is probably not. We care not about such a vain contest. It's largely one of those mechanisms of social herd-ism that we despise and avoid. Get on a 12-Step program and save yourself the embarrassment!

Another factor is that of imitation. The Temple of Set has been riding upon The Church of Satan's coattails for two decades now, and doing a shoddy job at such, considering their devil-worshiping proclivities. If any religion wishes to be an autonomous unit, a sect devoid of cheap and pointless theft, then they should cease and desist their inaccurate, parasite activity, lest be subject to earned interrogation. Some groups have too little ingenuity or security to do such, and doing it in the Devil's name often enough brings some attention. What still remains is that the Church of Satan was the first group in human history to claim the title of Satanism and make a religion/ philosophy of it. Deal with it. In our deserved stance, anything else should be called something else, at the very least, to show that they AREN'T trying to siphon off of another... namely, us. Invent another name. It's a challenge, to say the least but The Church of Satan, Anton LaVey and I refuse to be your daddy substitute. And if it doesn't seem gratuitous enough, such riding on our heels shows the leeches as being even more of the inferior beings that they are, devoid of productivity, innovativeness, and just about everything that Satanism stands for. It's one thing to SAY that you can do something, but it's another thing to actually DO! Sometimes, it's easier for some to look at what seems attractive and blindly grab without taking the task of what we Satanists adhere to as "responsibility to the responsible." To the inept, I say, "Whatever."

One point that we have to repeat endlessly is that we are not "devil-worshipers." Why is this such an issue? Well, somewhat because of a "Satanic panic" of the 1980s, fueled by Reagan and his fundamentalist Xtian buddies, including Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. Reasonably, that period is over. But, such rumors linger on. The remainder of disinformation spread is done by average, everyday people, perhaps you, many of whom AREN'T Xtian, or at least not in name. Most of it is done unknowingly, but what kind of flaccid excuse is that? With one attentive read of The Satanic Bible, it's obvious that we worship nothing other than our individual self, respectively, but no less exalted and far more practical. I can't count how many instances where some journalists from mainstream publications (Notably: Spin, USA Today, Teen, etc.) DON'T research their material concerning Satanism (and fail to mention, Hell forbid, US!) and trail on an irresponsible tirade of Satan-bash, when the most realistic source has been available for a minimum of 30 years. How irresponsible! To tell someone to read about 156 pages of philosophy (e.g.: The Satanic Bible) is obviously too difficult for some reporters, I suppose. Keep in mind that these are the people who are telling you what's going on in the world.

I can't stress enough the importance of reading the books mentioned in the "Suggested Satanic Reading" link on the Not Like Most webpage. (To save me a lot of stupid questions, please go back and click that button!) If you truly wish to understand us, there isn't an easy way out. Hell forbid, you're going to have to pull your eyes away from your cathode addiction and actually read print! There's no excuse for comparing us on some Judeo-Xtian slide-scale. Read a book. Throw away your mental chains and think for yourselves, if that doesn't seem too pathetic a request. The background, rituals, philosophy and thrust of Satanism have been available for over three decades now. It's about time you learn some history on those who are motivated to be masters, those who are eligible to rule, and those who are not thwarted by hallucination walls. We may become your keepers (if we haven't already), given your apathy. Aren't we the nasty, little Realists? Does this want to make you DO?

Hail Satan!
