KITCHEN DRAWER

Project Updates; Recent News; Brief Comments...

  • This page -- the Kitchen Drawer -- was begun on January 13, 2008. We're not sure what will end up on this page, but for the time being, we'll toss things here, in no particular order, when we don't know where else to put them.
  • We'll try to remember to date them; the date will refer to when the item was posted.

2/19/08 -- PODCAST update: The UW Lingo folks informed us very recently that they have carved out some time for this project, so yesterday (2/18/08) I delivered to them the raw concert audio. Stay tuned for more info.

2/19/08 -- WEB SITE update: For a few days AOL was attaching a big ugly banner to all of our pages. We freaked and started making preparatios to move to a different location. As unexpectedly as the banner appeared, it recently disappeared, with no explanation either time. Since moving the site is quite a project, we are delaying it for a while. Whatever happens, you can always get to our site by going to LOUANDPETER.COM or WWW.LOUANDPETER.COM.

1/28/08 -- More and more people are asking for SONGBOOKS which is unfortunate because ours are out of print. We are beginning the process of preparing somewhat enlarged scans of our two main songbooks, The Berryman Berryman Songbook (1989) and Frescoes and Bowling Balls (1996). At the same time, Lou is notating all of the songs we have written since then. Tentatively, we plan on releasing all this on a CD-r in the early fall of this year (2008). Everything will be in .pdf format, readable on Macs and PCs. All the old photos and drawings from the first songbooks will be included, plus who knows what else. In addition to the notations, we plan on including a .pdf document containing all the lyrics by themselves, with chords indicated, so if you know the melody already, you don't have to deal with the notation. Any comments or suggestions regarding this project are VERY welcome! I imagine we will have this available for purchase online as well, as a download...

1/13/08 -- PODCAST update. In the fall of 2007, we produced a concert featuring ourselves and British songwriter Pete Morton, in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin linguistics experts, who planned to make a Podcast of the show available. Due to various problems, they were not able to record the show, but -- in case of just such a situation -- we recorded it ourselves as a backup. We are working on an edited version for podcast, and apologize for its taking so long. We will post info on our site when the podcast becomes available.

1/13/08 -- STREETPULSE, Madison's "Homeless Cooperative Newspaper," is offering a CD to benefit the Newspaper. Called "The Longest Song" and produced by Art Paul Schlosser, it contains 10 of the "longest songs" of 10 local musicians or groups, including our "Limburger Ballad." More information by email at streetpulse@gmail.com. As we find out more about the marketing of this platter, we'll mention it here.
