First Five Year Mission Statement ACCOMPLISHED!

At the Business meeting of the 1997 Conference of the Atlantic Dolphin Research Cooperative (A.D.R.C.) the accomplishments of the last five years were reviewed. It became evident that the mission statement of A.D.R.C. has been accomplished! (See Below)

The mission statement for the next five years is now being formulated and will be announced in the next newsletter.

The Atlantic Dolphin Research Cooperative began with several researchers at the 9th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals in Chicago (December 5-9, 1991), compiling a list of people involved with local studies of bottlenose dolphins along the Atlantic coast north of Florida. After several informal meetings of this small group, it was decided that a conference should be organized to

  1. get to know one another
  2. learn where and how each of us conducts our studies, and
  3. develop a rapport suitable for future cooperative efforts and collective reporting of our findings, when appropriate.

The First Annual Conference of the Atlantic Dolphin Research Cooperative (ADRC) was organized by Sherman Jones III with the sponsorship of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia, and was held on March 6&7, 1993.
