SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY

As New Kent stretched ever more to the north, it spawned KING AND QUEEN COUNTY in 1691 which in turn spawned KING WILLIAM in 1701 which in turn spawned SPOTSYLANIA in 1720 and CAROLINE COUNTY in 1727, which in turn spawned ORANGE in 1734 which in turn spawned FREDERICK in 1738.


July 27, 1734 SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY record says: John (X) Smith gives "unto my well beloved grandson John Tyre" 100A in St. George Parish, part of a patent by Smith in 1728. Wm. (X) Tyree signed as witness. April 2, 1751 John (X) Tyre, then of Albemarle County, sold the 100A in Spotsylvania Co., St. GeorgeÕs Parish, for 16 pounds to John Williamson of Spotsylvania County. The book, THE TYREE TRAIL, by Ella Rae Wilson Coleman, 2 B, S. Bougainvilla, Orange City, Florida 32763, 1987, says this John Tyree moved on to Albemarle County, then to Granville, N.C. in 1762; and later to Wilkes Co., N.C. where he lived until he died in 1793. He married Fannie Voul; and one of his sons was David Tyree, Sr. Said David had 3 sons: James, Jessie and David, Jr.
