PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY

CHARLES CITY COUNTY spawned PRINCE GEORGE in 1702 which in turn spawned BRUNSWICK in 1720 which in turn spawned LUNENBURG in 1746 which in turn spawned HALIFAX in 1752 and CHARLOTTE in 1764 and MECKLINBURG IN 1764; and PRINCE GEORGE also spawned AMELIA in 1734 which in turn spawned PRINCE EDWARD in 1753 and NOTTOWAY in 1788; and PRINCE GEORGE also spawned DINWIDDIE in 1752.

For insights into these PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY residents, refer back to the David/Daniel Tyrees in the chapter on Earliest Tyree Immigrants. Now a second set of David/Daniel, etc. Tyrees emerge; apparently in a continuation of their land business in Hanover and Henrico Counties. After this temporary sojourn in Prince Edward County, Daniel left to go to Tennessee and David went to Cumberland County.

David Tyree of the old Hanover family moved west c. 1783 when he, now "of Powhatan", bought 250A at Ft. Creek. At the last David will be found as "Rev." (does this mean Rev. War?) David Tyree, whose will of 1823 Cumberland County was filed 1826.

In 1813 Cumberland County, David Tyree petitioned for his Revolutionary pension: "David Tyree Sr., wounded in the leg at Guilford Court House battle; now old, little property, big family".
