| 1979 | First fulltime WELS missionaries arrive to study Mandarin |
| 1982 | Victor Chang leaves Taiwan |
| 1985 | First Taiwanese pastor ordained, Matthias Chen |
| 1985 | Outreach begun in Taichung |
| 1986 | The Christian Lutheran Evangelical Church (CLEC) is incorporated |
